Business Analyst – SW Development

The Business Analyst will be an important part of new client implementations from start to go-live, and will work with project management, developers, QA, UAT, and client stakeholders to achieve our clients desired functionality.  No two days will be the same for this individual, but the primary responsibility of this position is to own the process of configuration and change management from initial requirements gathering all the way to the client going live with our software.  You will create detailed functional designs, using Agile methodologies and tools; story writing and validation including conditions of satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching and refining functional requirements as well as communicating directly with customers in collaboration with Product Managers.
  • Create detailed functional designs, using Agile methodologies and tools; story writing and then apply business analytics and reporting; validation including conditions of satisfaction.
  • Work closely with engineers and testers to ensure the product to be built actually gets built.
  • Backlog maintenance through proper story prioritization.
  • Create materials to help train additional teams on new functionality.
  • Review, comment, follow-up and target defects and enhancement requests.
  • Participate in customer meetings to get a better understanding of customer ideas and issues.
  • Take ownership of the delivery of features and capabilities through the development process.
  • Develop dashboards in Excel using Pivot Tables, Power Pivot. Automation of tasks using macros, excel packages.
  • Participate in customer requirements meetings to understand, capture and validate new requirements for development/modifications/enhancements.
  • Collect and connect data across the databases and information sources.
  • Interact daily/weekly with Operations management, IT/IS specialists, corporate business analyst to ensure operational delivery support services.
  • Work with IT to transform existing solutions to new methodology and technology.
  • Leverage collaboration portals like SharePoint for requirements gathering, design, project development and deployment.
  • Analyze client business process/requirements and develop corresponding process and data flows.
  • Perform gap analysis activities to identify and document any possible requirement gaps as well as provide creative solutions to ambiguous business problems.
  • Develop materials and deliver training required for each client assigned implementation.
  • Configure data and business rules for new/existing implementations.
  • Assist with testing strategies, conditions and evaluation of expected results.
  • Deliver meeting minutes, status reports, and post-project evaluations as required.
  • Offer in-depth line of questioning to uncover barriers, resistance and overall software usage.
  • Analyze complex problems, identify outliers, interpret client needs, and develop creative solutions.
  • Resolving data discrepancies and preparing summary and action items for implementation team to review with client stakeholders.
  • Work with technology and business teams both internally and with the client (including third party vendors) to put closure to conversion items during the weeks before Go-Live.
  • Translate business processes to visual workflow documents.
  • Develop and communicate requirements documentation for client-specific software configurations.
  • Coordinate with virtual, cross-functional teams to configure our software platform for clients which include the world’s largest and most well-known corporations.
  • Rapidly become and serve as a product knowledge expert during client-facing project planning meetings.
  • Own and design key Change Management plans for new client implementations.
  • Work with project sponsors and project management team to develop well-communicated and easy-to-digest UAT and training programs which optimize user adoption and acceptance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology/engineering/science field (Computer, Information Systems, Math, Statistics, Science) and 2 years in an analytical role.
  • Must have at least 60 months related work experience in software product development that included writing requirements and acceptance criteria on an agile, enterprise software development team.
  • We will also consider candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field plus at least 36 months of prior relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in transitional agile organizations where process and procedure may be evolving a plus.
  • Experience with ad-hoc reporting, dashboards and metrics development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data to derive business insights and support performance improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel and other MS products (Visio, Word, Project). Experience with Power Pivot is a plus.
  • Experience gathering requirements for executive level reporting.
  • Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
  • Experience with business process mapping, process improvement and re-engineering.
  • Ability to perform independently using business applications, databases, data viewing/extraction tools and reports.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team. Strong team player with willingness to collaborate
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adhere to project schedule and prioritize. Adapt to rapidly changing deadlines and tasks.
  • Superior documentation and organizational skills.
  • Analyst experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) products is an asset. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding and participating in the software development lifecycle.
  • Translating project objectives, business needs and high level requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent skill level in SQL, PL/SQL.
  • Prior experience with tools like Toad Data Point, SQL Navigator, SQL Developer.
  • Understanding of relational databases such as SQL Server. Preferred knowledge of database design.
  • Fluency with user stories, specification by example, and other agile requirement paradigms.
